I see this fantasy taking me from Kansas to serenity
These dreams that seem to come from somewhere over the rainbow
These days seasons change just as quickly as a harmony
I need to escape to awaken a believable journey...
I know how possible we are
We can go and achieve the inconceivable
I know just how possible we are
We can follow our own yellow brick road
Pressing on in the eyes of a wise man's conspiracy
I come alive to achieve the spoken prophecy
My friends wonder how I know when the storm is coming
And I'm grateful for the moments that we build to become the
Creators of shakers and movers of the melody
We building our community... YEAH!
There's no tornado that can stop us now
Pressing on in the eyes of the child that's inside of me
I believe the time has come for us to choose our unity
each moment that we walk on the path that will guide us to our dream
we can sing another song that makes us feel we belong
Yeah, this is where we belong
We belong on this Yellow Brick Road
So Possible/This is where we belong
There’s no tornado that can stop us now

You said you love me
But you won't come down
So I'm leaving tomorrow
I'm a traveler making my way around the world
Airplanes and automobiles carry me away
I got my whole life ahead of me, but
I want to make you my priority
I got my eyes on you
I could be ready to settle down real soon
Oh love!
I see you up in the air, Love!
I know how much you care, Love!
But if you stay up there for too long
I know I will be gone
You said you love me
But you won't come down
So I'm leaving tomorrow
And when the long road is calling me
Like a smile that comes with a summer breeze
I know somewhere down here
There's a place for you and me
Oh love
I see you next to the moon, Love
I know how much you care, Love
But if you stay up there for too long
I know I will be gone
But if you Say Yes to following your heart
Yes! To keeping me on
Your mind and in your arms tonight
Where I can celebrate
The day that you will ask for me to stay

This Time Around
03:28
|
|||
If the only sun shining for me now
Is over a mountain or around a hill
If all i ever needed in this lifetime of unfamiliar
Was freedom from a wishing well
If we could ride a storm for a thousand years
Hands picking cotton till we all remembered how to heal
No matter what the song says, no matter what the soul says
This time around we’re gonna know exactly why we came here
This time around the days are changing like never before
This time around all the world may never know
What happens if we stop dreaming
He remembers stepping out the front door into a storm of rain
She remembers feeling empty chasing old memories of better days
As simple as the air we breathe coming in a little cleaner
Take a moment to sing for love to bring on a new season for this change
This time around
Gonna watch the sun rise
The days are changing
Take a moment to sing for love
Like never before
Move your soul to let more love in
Find the door is finally open
See the dawn of a new day breaking
This time around
Take a moment to sing for love

Breakdown Mode
03:03
|
|||
I've been living on a rebound
Stuck here for too long
You used to take my mind off of
All the ways love can make you go crazy
My emotions taking over
Every time I try to leave
I spin around to find
All the ways you could be better for me
It's like a merry-go-round we go
This love is making trouble with the highs and the lows
I need to take control
Before my heart goes to breakdown mode
All of my vision is spinnin' inside
I can't get off this ride
When will I find closure
If my heart is galloping, galloping for ya
I'm in trouble - Too many nights alone
Too many days without you
Round and round we go
Singing the same song, same song

Millionaire
04:01
|
|||
It’s a traveling day
I’m on the road tonight
Trying to make it back home to you
You’re probably worried, waiting up like you do
It’s a beautiful thing
To think of you like I do tonight
With all the things that you want to give me
All I need is your love to be the star that guides me
I ain’t rich, I know, oh I know
But I feel like I am a millionaire
I feel like I am a millionaire
Late November on an Indian summer’s afternoon
Leaves are brown and the season’s are changing
And all that I can think of is the love we’re making
All that I need is to be in your arms tonight
Take a pass on the diamonds and things
To make it there beside you I’d give everything
It really doesn’t matter to me
If the world was mine, filled with material things
A fancy car, or a first class ticket to Bali
If I have not love than I have nothing
I ain’t rich, I know, oh I know
But I feel like I am a millionaire
I feel like I am a millionaire
Because I got you

There goes my heart again
All of this time I thought we were pretending
Nothing looks the same when your eyes are open
Now you're playing these games to keep my heartbeat spinning
You show me love, you show me love
You show me everything my heart is capable of
You reshape me like butterfly origami
You have broken into my heart
This time i feel the blues have departed
Nothing can keep me away from this feeling
I know i am simply falling for you
I’m taking time to envision where your heart is
And justify why you’re gone for the moment
I tumble sometimes, looking for sunshine
And you know this is right when you look into my eyes
You show me love, you show me love
You show me everything my heart is capable of
And now I can’t break away from this fire that we started
There my heart goes again
In your arms I’m falling deeper
And there’s nothing to break me away from this

Testify
03:40
|
|||
Testify you will
Here, on the dance floor
When the DJ plays your favorite song
This is when we lose it
Get down, get down like a gryphon in wonderland
Just as you crave the tempo of this song
Just as your body spells trouble in the disco
Serenade your soul
Spin the music through the door
Sink in the spirits of harmony
Becoming one with the sun behind the beat
Tonight you will drink and dream of love
You will throw down your cupid arrows
Hypnotized you feel your body in the middle of the dance floor
You're dancing day and night
You recognize this feeling
You’re taking back, you’re taking back your freedom
Do you know where your body goes when you lose control?
Get down
Let the groove take over

I Travel Home
03:36
|
|||
I travel home to remember the sound of morning
I choose the evening to pray I remember this as it is
For when the city returns
When the sound of the green-line trolley cars and skyscrapers
Surround my senses diminishing this version of my imagination
I will remember this
The silence and the night time
I will remember red sand on bare feet
My skin sticky glistening in the sun
My hair like untamed wool
I will remember the air thick of Africa
I will remember my mother in the night
And the children she cares for
I will see them once more as they play
Peeking at me from the crack in the doorway
I will remember my aunti-- her famous Jeloff rice
Asking me in flawless Ishan native tongue
“ofure…Onegbe?”…How is everything…you're too skinny”
And I struggling to keep up clumsily responding
“Butayay aunti?” That means, I don’t know what you just said
I will remember the market place
The women selling smoked corn and plantain
The taste of moy-moy and egusi
The sound of Doris pounding yam
Fresh oranges from the Arrimogiga farm
When Boston city lights mask the majesty of my favorite constellations
I will remember the moon…
Pregnant and smiling
Because I am a poet
As if she knows that I am
Invested enough to write about it
Perhaps because I am a poet
I will remember the unseen
The homeless and the beggars, the roadside wanderers,
people just trying to survive
Children roadside selling cell phones and unwanted trinkets
I will remember the local roads
Beaten and eroded by rain and time
Huts built beside a 15 story hotel skyrise
So many having so much
Neighbors with others living with nothing
But the hand-me-downs on their backs
And the realities of poverty crushing their
promises of tomorrow
I leave behind my rose colored glasses
In my grandfather’s village
Because when my plane finally lands back in Boston
I want to believe that Nigeria changes me every time
These moments teach me how to recognize what we take for granted
constant electricity and clean water
hospitals on every corner
the opportunity to rise beyond our native borders
These are the details that risk a fate of becoming lost or forgotten
Like sounds of the morning
For when the city returns
When the sound of the green-line trolley cars and skyscrapers
Surrounds my senses diminishing this version of my imagination
I will remember this
I need to remember this

Happily Ever After
03:42
|
|||
I am young, I wear no armor
No ability to become stone
You will abandon me when I am broken
You will abandon me when I an old
You will betray me, you will betray me
On more twilights than I deserve
Dancing on the graves of our yesterdays
Diggin down down the bones of our love
I am young, I wear no armor
No ability to become stone
You will betray me, you will betray me
On more twilights than I deserve
You will discover that I am not the girl
I am not the girl you thought I was
You have found a way to strangle her
Burying this sweet little girl into the ground
Break down, break down down
The walls of happily every after
You will leave the girl
You will leave this girl behind
Slowly detaching from the memories
of ever knowing a love like mine
I will get up in the morning
I will avoid wasting these days
I will find a way to revive the woman I loved
Before I chose to love you that way
I am young, I wear no armor
No abilities to become stone
My eyes will reflect everything about me
That you will never know

I Am Descending
04:03
|
|||
I am descending
I am binding time
I’m trying to hold on to
Our sweetest memories
I can still feel you
Your lips on all of me
Your skin in between the silk
Still moving me
You are
You are validating
That my search for love
Is closer to you to me
Souls separated by six degrees
You are the fire inside of me
The blue sky in a sea of dreams
You are the ripples in ecstasy
That pales all fantasies
You are my tomorrow
You are my every yesterday
I am trying to hold on to
These words we used to say
I love you...
But where are we now
Where are we now
Until tomorrow comes
I wait for all of your love
I am trying to hold on to
These words we used to say
I am descending
You are still my rising sun
We are, we are the in between of love
The never-failing... the hallelujah of love
We are, You are, You are
I am trying to hold on to
These words we used to say
I love you

My Current Anthem
02:26
|
|||
I believe that we have 365 days to change
To change our altitude our attitudes
To rise, to fly, to realign, to get RIGHT
I believe that we have
365 days to journey to be Amazing
To uplift from the solitude that contributes to dragging us down
So this is my current anthem
This is my Destiny of moments,
This is the song speaking from my heart so fearful of wasting days
And I want to get there
Right HERE, right now on this stage
Because lord knows getting up here isn’t always easy
So deliver me from my constant expectations of life
Deliver me from trespassing in a trance
I want to wake up and resurface
From my subliminal sanctuary of mental hibernation
I want to transform as I go
I want to travel as an eagle
Wings spread like Freedom painted Magnificent
Catching wind in unison with spirits parallel to the Heavens
Because TODAY will mark the resurrection of the ROAD
And this streetcar named Desire Lead Me Home
Always guiding me from the 5 shades of my blues
Back to the direction that I believe I am supposed to be living in
And right back to my anthem
And if the world we know shall crumble
And when the stars fall out of line
Remember the road is on time with your arrival
And your next moment to shine flies on the horizon
